Support, retrofit and consulting

Maintenance, retrofit and remote support on existing plants, including third-party ones, and technical support at the decisive stages: machine fleet assessment, specifications, independent verification during acceptance testing.

An automation system needs looking after once acceptance testing is over. We work on existing plants, including ones designed by others, and support the client at the stages where technical choices weigh most: evaluating an investment, writing a specification, commissioning a new machine.

Support and retrofit

Routine and extraordinary maintenance, retrofit of obsolete components (legacy revamping) and support in case of machine downtime. Entrusting maintenance to someone who also understands the plant's design logic shortens diagnosis time: that is why we offer ongoing support, not just one-off emergency call-outs.

  • Scheduled maintenance on PLCs, drives and fieldbus networks
  • Retrofit of electrical panels and end-of-life automation components
  • Remote assistance for fast diagnosis and reduced downtime
  • Upgrading obsolete control logic and HMI/SCADA interfaces
  • Scheduled service contracts with planned maintenance visits
  • Working alongside staff at every level, from operators to maintenance technicians, for informed, skilled and autonomous management of the plant

Technical consulting

  • Machine fleet assessment: state of the existing automation, controller obsolescence, spare part availability, downtime risk and intervention priorities
  • Control architecture: defining the standard to adopt on new projects (platforms, fieldbuses, safety criteria, data management), so that machines bought over the years speak the same language
  • New concept development: feasibility studies and evaluation of technical alternatives before the budget is committed
  • Support in writing technical specifications: translating a production requirement into verifiable technical requirements, with written acceptance criteria

How we join a project

In complex projects the most demanding automation decisions are often taken under pressure, with whichever supplier is at the table as the only technical reference. We come in as a stable source of automation expertise: we know the history of the plant, keep the documentation up to date and do not start over at every intervention.

After a first assessment we propose and agree with the client the operating strategy best suited to the project.

When automation expertise is needed Points in the life of an investment where the expertise is required only intermittently. WHEN EXPERTISE IS NEEDED INVESTMENT SPECIFICATION COMMISSIONING

For organisations of every size

Where automation has no dedicated in-house team, we become the technical reference at the decisive stages: investment evaluation, specifications, acceptance testing.

In organisations with their own engineering department the contribution is different:

  • Extra capacity at project peaks, without adding to headcount
  • Specialist expertise (functional safety, motion control, PC-based architectures) in support of in-house engineering
  • A single technical reference to align standards and suppliers across several plants
  • Independent verification of third-party supplies before acceptance
  • Continuity of documentation and know-how even when people change

Independent verification during acceptance testing

During the commissioning and SAT of a supply we carry out an independent technical verification on behalf of the client. It is not there to hunt for mistakes: it is there to make the builder of the machine and the people who will run it for the next fifteen years speak the same language.

In practice that means verifying that what has been delivered matches what the specification says, that acceptance tests are run under realistic conditions, that documentation and software access are complete, and that safety functions are validated rather than merely declared. The client gets an independent technical reading of what they are accepting; the builder gets a competent counterpart with whom open points can be settled straight away, instead of surfacing as a dispute months later.
