Functional safety retrofit on an industrial press

The challenge
A press that had been in production for several years needed its safety system upgraded to the Performance Level required by the application, with downtime to be kept to a strict minimum.
The intervention
Risk assessment per EN ISO 12100, calculation of the required PL, and design of the new safety circuit with safety relays and optoelectronic barriers, scheduling the work within a planned downtime window.
The result
A system compliant with the Performance Level required by EN ISO 13849-1, an updated technical file, and downtime limited to the weekend window agreed with the client.
